Arriving in the north China port of Tsing Tao in June 1946 to join a U.S. Marine detachment on postwar duty, Pvt. Don Sexton, 18, of Greensboro could scarcely believe his eyes. Strutting around the barracks ``like he owned the place' was a cocky little Chinese kid wearing a miniature Marine uniform complete with corporal chevrons and spit-polished shoes. He also sported a GI haircut.
