I shared the amazement and dismay of many citizens when I heard there will be no charges filed by local law enforcement in the months-long Guilford County Animal Shelter investigation. This is stunning, given the list of abuses we’ve read about, the public comments by law enforcement officials in August and September that there would likely be criminal charges (possibly many), and public comments by state officials that the situation was one of the worst ever seen in North Carolina. I feel confused and betrayed.
