LeBauer Park opening events

Events announced so far for the opening of the downtown Carolyn & Maurice LeBauer Park, 208 N. Davie St., between North Davie and North Church streets.

All are free. For information, visit to lebauerpark.org.

Exhibition on Carolyn and Maurice LeBauer Park and its Janet Echelman sculpture: Through spring 2017, Greensboro Historical Museum, 130 Summit Ave. (336) 373-2043, greensborohistory.org.

Opening, ribbon-cutting and dedication: 10:30 a.m. Aug. 8, Price/Bryan Performance Place, LeBauer Park.

Talk by artist Janet Echelman: 6 p.m. Aug. 11, Greensboro Historical Museum.

Downtown Greensboro Inc.'s Cinema Under the Stars presents "Star Wars: the Force Awakens": 7 p.m. Aug. 12. A "Star Wars"-themed costume contest for children, adults and even dogs will be held before the film.

Bands perform at Price/Bryan stage: 4:30 to 10 p.m. Aug. 13. Funky Funk NC (DJs and break dancers) will perform from 4:30 to 6 p.m., Gypsy Danger (cover band) from 6:30 to 8 p.m., and Marcus B Smooth (DJ and line dancing) from 8:30 to 10 p.m.

Lighting of the Echelman sculpture: 8 p.m. Aug. 14.
