Nina Riggs and her husband, John Duberstein, enjoy a night out together. In her book “The Bright Hour,” Riggs writes of their boys and letting go: “Their very existence is the one dark piece I cannot get right with in all this. I can let go of a lot of things: plans, friends, career goals, places in the world I want to see, ... maybe even the love of my life. But I cannot figure out how to let go of mothering them.”

Greensboro Bound itself will kickoff with an event emceed by former North Carolina poet laureate Fred Chappell, 6 p.m. May 17 at the Weatherspoon Art Museum on the campus of UNCG.

The festival will feature more than 70 writers. All events are free. Required tickets for Nikki Giovanni’s closing keynote address have all been taken.
