RiverRun Screenings at Red Cinemas

Here is a schedule of RiverRun screenings at Red Cinemas, 1305 Battleground Ave., Greensboro. Tickets are available through the Red Cinemas box office or online at redcinemas.com.

All regular festival screenings are $12 for adults and $10 for students (students must purchase tickets in person and present a valid student ID to receive discounted price).

• 5:30 p.m. April 23: "The Narrow Margin." Director: Richard Fleischer. USA, 1952, 71 minutes. (Also showing at 5 p.m. April 28 at Babcock Theatre, UNC School of the Arts.) Rating: Teen plus. When a mobster's widow decides to testify, she goes undercover and is escorted across country by train. In this film noir classic, cop Walter Brown and his partner are assigned the task, but the mob is on their trail. Presented by film historian Foster Hirsch. Hirsch's book, "Film Noir: The Dark Side of the Screen," is considered a landmark book on the genre of stylish Hollywood crime dramas.

• 8 p.m. April 23: "Sammy Davis Jr.: I've Gotta Be Me." Director: Samuel D. Pollard. USA, 2017, 100 minutes, documentary. (Also at 7:30 p.m. April 19 at Hanesbrands Theatre in Winston-Salem.) Rating: Mature content. Featuring a star-studded roster including Jerry Lewis, Whoopi Goldberg, Billy Crystal and Sidney Poitier, this biography pays tribute to the legendary, multitalented song-and-dance man.

• 5:30 p.m. April 24: "The Beginner." Director: Alexandra Sell. Germany, 2017, 98 minutes, German narrative. (Also at 7:30 p.m. April 26 at SECCA in Winston-Salem.) Rating: Mature content. At 58, Annebärbel crumbles when her husband leaves her, but she decides to start over and pursue her childhood fantasy of becoming a figure skater. Sell and Olympic skater Christine Errath will attend. Errath appears as herself in the film. She was the 1976 Bronze Medalist in figure skating at the Olympics, the 1974 World Champion and three-time European Champion.

• 8 p.m. April 24: "Time Trial." Director: Finlay Pretsell. UK, 2017, 82 minutes. (Also at 4 p.m. April 21 and 1 p.m. April 23 at Aperture 1 in Winston-Salem.) Rating: Mature content. From deep inside the peloton, witness impossible climbs and rapid descents as the film ventures into the world of cyclist David Millar.

• 5:30 p.m. April 25: "Bee Nation." Director: Lana Šlezić. Canada, 2017, 78 minutes. (Also at 5 p.m. April 26 at Hanesbrands Theatre in Winston-Salem.) Rating: Teen plus. Kahkewistahaw First Nation Reserve is a world away from Toronto in so many ways, but for third-grader William Kaysaywaysemat III, it’s a journey he’s keen to make to represent his school and community in the First Nations Spelling Bee.

• 8 p.m. April 25: "The Workshop." Director: Laurent Cantet. France, 2017, 113 minutes, French. (Also at 8 p.m. April 20 at Hanesbrands Theatre and 7 p.m. April 22 at Gold Theatre at UNC School of the Arts in Winston-Salem.) Rating: Mature content. Antoine attends a summer writing workshop to collaborate with other students on a crime thriller with the help of Olivia, a famous novelist.

• 5:30 p.m. April 26: "The Carter Effect." Director: Sean Menard. USA, 2017, 60 minutes, English documentary. (Also at 7:30 p.m. April 23 at SECCA in Winston-Salem.) Rating: Mature content. Sean Menard gives viewers an unprecedented look at UNC legend Vince Carter: the 6-foot-6, eight-time NBA All-Star from Daytona Beach who made waves in the Canadian basketball scene when he joined the Raptors in 1998.

• 8 p.m. April 26: "The Gospel According to André." Director: Kate Novack. USA, 2017, 94 minutes, documentary. (Also at 7 p.m. April 28 at a/perture 1in Winston-Salem.) Rating: PG-13. From the segregated American South to the fashion capitals of the world, operatic fashion editor André Leon Talley's life and career are on full display in a poignant portrait that includes appearances by Anna Wintour, Marc Jacobs, Tom Ford, Valentino and Manolo Blahnik.
