Weatherspoon Art Museum opens its 44th "Art on Paper" exhibit

Artist Neha Vedpathak’s work will be on display at the “Art on Paper” exhibition at Weatherspoon Art Museum through Sept. 3. Vedpathak uses a technique called “plucking,” in which she uses a sharp push pin to pluck a large sheet of Japanese paper hundreds of thousands of times, completely changing the look and texture of the paper.

Greensboro artist and Weaver Academy art teacher Steven Cozart interviewed several of his African-American family members and friends about their experience relating to skin tone. He then shared these stories, along with sketches of the speakers, on paper bags with reference to the historical “paper bag test,” in which African-Americans were denied certain privileges if their skin tone was darker than the color of a brown paper bag.

Artist Andrew Scott Ross' work will be on display in the "Art on Paper" exhibit at Weatherspoon Art Museum that will run through Sept. 3.
