Before his Yankees’ No. 2 jersey became iconic, Derek Jeter wore No. 31 with the 1993 Greensboro Hornets. Jeter wore No. 13 in high school. “I always wore either 13 or 31 (in the minors),” Jeter said during a visit to Greensboro in July 2018. “I always tried to get No. 13, because my dad wore 13 in college. So I always wanted 13, and if I couldn’t get it, I’d flip it to 31.”
