Rape kits routinely take 18 months or longer to be processed at the North Carolina State Crime Laboratory. “This job has just gotten too big for the state,” Guilford County Sheriff BJ Barnes said. The Greensboro Police Department currently has 251 untested kits in storage. Guilford County has 40 kits in storage.

Rape kits routinely take 18 months or longer to be processed at the North Carolina State Crime Laboratory. “This job has just gotten too big for the state,” Guilford County Sheriff BJ Barnes said. The Greensboro Police Department currently has 251 untested kits in storage. Guilford County has 40 kits in storage.
