Cinema Under The Stars

Food trucks will be onsite beginning at 6 p.m. selling food and drinks (including beer and wine). Bring a blanket. Films begin at dusk.

Aug. 12: "Zootopia." Animated film. PG. A bunny joins the police force in a city inhabited completely by animals. Greensboro Science Center will display zoo artifacts and will give out temporary tattoos. ArtQuest will be crafting animal masks.

Aug. 19: "Inside Out." Animated film. PG. The emotions in a little girl's head try to help her adjust to a new life in a new town.

Aug. 26: "The Intern." PG-13. A 70-year-old widower goes back to work as an intern for an online fashion website.

Sept. 2: "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." PG-13 (sci-fi action violence). Taking place 30 years after "Episode VI: Return of the Jedi," the film features a trio of new young leads.

Sept. 16: "The Book Thief." PG-13. Based on the best-selling book, it's the story of a young girl who transforms the lives of everyone around her when she is sent to live in Nazi Germany.

Sept. 23: "The Jungle Book." PG. Mowgli, whose been raised by wolves, finds he is no longer welcome in the jungle and sets out on a journey of self-discovery.

Sept. 30: "Jurassic World." PG-13. A new attraction at Jurassic World is created to respark visitor interest, but it backfires.

Oct. 7: "The Martian." PG-13. An astronaut tries to survive after accidentally being left on Mars.

11 a.m.: Art Class. An art studio will offer educational and interactive activities.

5:30-6:30 p.m.: Mindful Flow Yoga. Build strength and flexibility and reduce stress. All levels welcome.

11 a.m.-noon: Youth Total Conditioning. Get older kids off the couch and the electronics and into having physical fun and getting fit. Uses medicine balls, resistance bands, partners, plyometrics, yoga and more.

5-6 p.m.: The Club Fitness Sweat. Interval-based cardio and strength class using weights and resistance tubing.

Saturday Fitness Activities

9-9:45 a.m.: Bootcamp. Use your own bodyweight to burn fat and tone up.

9:45-10:30 a.m.: Yoga. All levels welcome.

10:30-11:15 a.m.: Sports Performance Training. For athletes 10 and older. Includes speed, agility, strength, conditioning and reaction.

11 a.m.-noon: Think Eat Grow. Hands-on learning for kids and adults.

11:15 a.m.-noon: SoCa Groove. High-energy cardio dancing to reggae, SoCa and dancehall music.

Noon-12:45 p.m.: Afro-Contemporary Class. Exploration of traditional West African dance steps, current West and South African street dance, American hip-hop and more.

12:45-1:30 p.m.: Zumba. Dance fitness set to Latin and world music.

Saturday Children's Activities

10-10:30 a.m.: Little Birds Music Studio. Kids can sing, dance, play and move while making music together.

11-2 p.m.: Face Painting: The Greensboro Youth Council will paint kids' faces.

Opening Week Saturday Activities

11 a.m.-2 p.m.: Seed Starter Workshop. Learn from a Cooperative Extension agent.

2-3:30 p.m.: Chess in the Park. Greensboro Chess Club will offer an exhibition and a local chess expert will play up to 20 players at the same time.

Saturday Arts & Culture

2-4 p.m.: Bookmaking. Kids of all ages. Choose a cover then create a story to make a storybook, journal, comic book or other choices.

2-4 p.m.: River Otters Band. A Durham-based band that plays country and blues music.

3-4 p.m.: Art Class. Interactive class designed to inspire creativitiy and self-expression.

4-5 p.m.: Teen Juggling and Hooping Club. All experience levels welcome to practice and learn tricks.

4:30-6 p.m.: Funky Funky NC. DJs and break dancers.

5-6 p.m.: Community Canvas. An artist will lead the creation of a community canvas.

6-6:30 p.m.: Dudley High School Marching Band.

6:30-8 p.m.: Gipsy Danger. A Burlington-based band that plays newgrass, indie, rock and pop.

8-10 p.m.: Marcus B Smooth. DJ and line dancing.

Aug. 14

2-4 p.m.: Chess in the Park. Greensboro Chess Club will host chess matches in the park every Sunday, weather permitting.

3-5 p.m.: Yappy Hour. A weekly meetup for four-legged friends to mix and mingle while their humans enjoy food, drinks and other activities.

4-5:30 p.m.: KnockerBall. A twist on soccer that features a great workout and lots of fun and laughs.

8 p.m.: Sculpture Lighting. Janet Echelman's sculpture "Where We Met" will be lit for the first time.
