Lead actress Frances McDormand won an Academy Award for her role in “Fargo,” in which she played a pregnant policewoman investigating roadside homicides that are the result of a car salesman, played by William H. The movie also won the Academy Award for best original screenplay, cementing the brothers Joel Coen and Ethan Coen as celebrated contemporary American auteurs.
