Westbound I-40 in Greensboro is closed after a wreck involving 10 cars and a tractor-trailer in 2013. Safety advocates want truck trailers to carry stronger guards to limit underride crashes.
- JOSEPH RODRIGUEZ/News & Record
Mary (left), 13, and AnnaLeah Karth, 17, of Rocky Mount, photographed in January 2013, were killed later that year when their family’s car slid beneath a tractor-trailer during a collision. Their mother, Marianne, has become a crusader for tougher regulations to help prevent underride crashes.
