Ever since Downtown Greensboro Inc. and Greensboro city officials unveiled a plan to create a pedestrian plaza in the 200 block of South Elm Street, there has been one consistent plea from area business owners and residents.

Drop-in session
The city of Greensboro will host a drop-in information session for downtown business owners, property owners and residents from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday at the west concourse of the J. Douglas Galyon Depot, 236 E. Washington St.
The session is about the South Elm Street Pedestrian Plaza pilot program, including logistical information and city staff answering questions about the program.
As part of the pilot program, portions of South Elm Street will close to vehicle traffic on weekends to create a traffic-free space for dining, shopping, activities and entertainment.
Meanwhile, the 200 block of South Elm between February One Place and Washington Street will remain closed to vehicle traffic at all times from Aug. 3 through Nov. 1.
