Sheriff Page appears on several national media outlets

Rockingham County Sheriff Sam Page appeared on two prominent Fox News programs while in Washington DC. He also was a radio guest of "The Herman Cain Show" on Wednesday.

Page's first stop was on Fox News during 'Hannity' Tuesday night. Alongside Hennepin County Sheriff Richard Stanek, the Rockingham County Sheriff shared his appreciation of law enforcement support from the President – something Page said "we haven't seen in about eight years."

When asked to paint a picture of the National Sheriffs' Association's meeting with the president, he told host Sean Hannity that President Trump was focused on supporting collaboration between local, state and federal law enforcement.

"He wants to secure our borders and that's a first," said Page during the three minute segment. 

"He made the promise and we support him in that effort. We are committed to working with him and his administration."

The local sheriff was also asked if he felt if local law enforcement should help enforce federal laws, especially in regards to immigration.

"We have a lot of law enforcement officers that work across the country with these federal partnerships," Page said. "As far as the situation on sanctuary cities, we all took an oath to obey the law and uphold the law. That's what we have to do. We have to do our job. We can't pick and choose what laws we are going to enforce, we have to enforce the law and we need to work with our federal, local and state partners."

Page also appeared on "Fox and Friends" Wednesday morning and shared his appreciation for President Trump's support of sheriffs across the country.

"It's a great honor," Page said. "This is something we haven't seen in the past eight years and from the former administration. But now we have an opportunity to engage the president and again, we are excited because we are seeing something we haven't seen in a long time – support. And we need that."
