State revokes Guilford shelter's license for 'severity of violations'

Carl was a cat up for adoption at the Guilford County Animal Shelter on Friday, Aug. 7. Carl was adopted Saturday, Aug. 8, by Katharine Bunnell and her husband, Travis. When they got him home, he wouldn’t eat. They took him to the vet where he was diagnosed with a fatal disease found common in shelter cats. The veterinarian said Carl had been sick for at least a month and had a week to live. Carl had been at the shelter since May and had not seen a veterinarian since June.

Carl was a cat up for adoption at the Guilford County Animal Shelter on Friday, Aug. 7. Carl was adopted Saturday, Aug. 8, by Katharine Bunnell and her husband, Travis. When they got him home, he wouldn’t eat. They took him to the vet where he was diagnosed with a fatal disease found common in shelter cats. The veterinarian said Carl had been sick for at least a month and had a week to live. Carl had been at the shelter since May and had not seen a veterinarian since June.
