ARTHUR KENNEDY SCHOTT GREENSBORO Arthur Kennedy Schott, 91, died Tuesday, January 28, at home surrounded by his family after a year of declining health. The fourth child born to Irwin August Schott and Julia Margaret Kennedy Schott on September 26, 1922, he was predeceased by his parents, his older sister Magdalene Agnes Schott and older brother Robert August Schott. He was also predeceased by his wife of 44 years and mother of his children, Helen Kelley Schott, and his spouse of 15 years, Sue Trinkle Schott. He is survived by treasured companion and guardian angel, Nancy Jones and her daughter, Suzanne King (Steve). Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 31st, at 2 p.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 2715 Horse Pen Creek Road, Greensboro. Family is being served by Forbis & Dick Funeral Service, Guilford Chapel. He is also survived by his seven children and seven grandchildren. His surviving daughter is Mary Schott Speaker (Tom); surviving sons include Mark K. Schott (Sally), Michael J. Schott (Ellin), Martin A. Schott (Martha), Matthew J. Schott (Cathy), Maury D. Schott and Myles T. Schott. Grand-daughters include Kelley Schott Holoman (Jeffrey), Magdaline Walker Schott, Sarah Kennedy Schott and Kristen Cameron Schott; grandsons include Ryan Edward Schott, Jacob Michael Arthur Schott and Hunter Brown. Educated in western New York parochial schools and St. Joseph's Intercollegiate Institute, his Catholic faith was both devout and resolute. Art and Helen were founding members of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Greensboro and would acknowledge a very treasured relationship with the first pastor, Father Bob Scott and later Father Bob Rivers. They also had a longstanding special friendship with Father George Kloster. A mechanical engineering degree from Yale University (1946) courtesy of the US Navy V-12 program during World War II, Art remained in the Naval Reserves until 1955. Art and Helen moved their family to Greensboro in 1966 and lived in Greensboro and Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia until Helen's death in 1992. Art moved to Roanoke, VA, married Sue Trinkle in 1994 and lived there until her passing in 2009. Art returned to Greensboro and has lived at Carolina Estates since then. The family wishes to acknowledge the staff and residents there who contributed so much to Art's life. The family also recognizes the care Art received from Dr. Richard Tisovec and his nurse, Shannon Wright; and also Hospice nurses Lexa Harris and especially, Ann Marie Wilson. Memorials may be made to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church at 2715 Horse Pen Creek Rd, Greensboro, NC 27410 or Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro at 2500 Summit Ave. Greensboro, NC 27405. Online condolences may be made at www.forbisandick.com
