Local sculptor creates art to be displayed outside of Pro Football Hall of Fame

Reidsville artist Brad Spencer is nearing completion of a sculpture depicting the 1967 Ice Bowl, which will be displayed outside of the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio this fall.

Spencer holds a miniature spec version of the sculpture which will become a part of the finished boarder.

The sculpture is 22 feet long and 8 feet tall and Spencer is going to do a tribute to former Green Bay head coach Vince Lombardi on the back along with one of his famous quotes as well as some detailed boarder work on the finished piece.

This Spencer sculpture, which is displayed in front of the Reidsville Center for Active Retirement Enterprises, is located at 201 N. Washington Ave. It depicts a number of citizens engaged in some of the activities hosted at the center.

Spencer created this piece that depicts a family enjoying the Community Walking trail, which is on the corner of Harrison and Main Streets in Reidsville adjacent to Annie Penn Hospital. Spencer, a 62-year-old Detroit native, moved to North Carolina at age 5 and later attended college at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where he earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in fine art. He moved to Reidsville in 1984 and eventually bought his studio, located on the corner of Settle and Market Streets.
