The NHL Playoffs are about to begin and the field is wide open with no clear favorite.
While the Carolina Hurricanes have the best odds, you could make an argument for a handful of teams to win this year. The first round in the Eastern Conference is looking especially juicy with plenty of classic rivalries set to take place.
If you want to bet on the upcoming Stanley Cup playoffs, the relatively even field means there’s plenty of value to be had.

2024 Stanley Cup Odds, Preview & Picks: Carolina Hurricanes, Florida Panthers among favorites to win it all
2024 Stanley Cup best odds: Carolina Hurricanes (+650 or better)
The Carolina Hurricanes enter the postseason as the betting favorite. From top to bottom, there may not be a more complete team. Sebastian Aho leads the way up front alongside trade deadline acquisition Jake Guentzel who has outperformed the lofty expectations the team had when they traded for him. He’s fit like a glove and helped add a scoring punch to a team that needed one.
The Hurricanes also have some young players making a name for themselves, such as Seth Jarvis, who has improved by leaps and bounds this season. This has helped them add some scoring to their lineup and helped round out their offense, something that they were lacking in past years when they were eliminated due to an inability to score in the postseason.
2024 Stanley Cup best bets: Dallas Stars to win (+850 or better)
The Dallas Stars are one of the NHL’s best teams but can be found as low as sixth on the odds table at certain sportsbooks. They are loaded at every position group and look to be one of the most popular picks at the sportsbook.
The Stars also acquired veteran defenseman Chris Tanev near this year’s trade deadline to help bolster their already strong defense. He’s the perfect player to add to this roster and should help a great deal in the postseason.
If goalie Jake Oettinger was playing up to his potential in the regular season, the Stars would have been far and away the best team in the Western Conference. He had some uncharacteristic struggles but should be able to get back on track for the playoffs.
2024 Stanley Cup long shot pick: Vegas Golden Knights (+1200 or better)
The Vegas Golden Knights did not come close to challenging for the Pacific Division title and are not high up on many odds tables. However, they are the defending champions and did add some significant pieces at this year’s deadline.
The new acquisitions in Tomas Hertl and Noah Hanifin make a scary team even scarier. Now that everyone should be healthy for the playoffs, the Golden Knights are a team that no one wants to face.
With better than 10-1 odds, this is a savvy bet that you can make and hope for a big payout.
