"I'm a TarAggie now."

"The thing I'm going to miss most about being on the sideline – is being on the sideline. ... I'm sorry, I'm such a smart (aleck)."

"I heard this story a gentleman shared with me. I stop some mornings and get a cup of coffee. And there are two guys who are always in there. I asked the guy, 'What do you do?' He says, 'Nothing.' I asked his partner, 'Well what do you do?' He says, 'I help him.' I'm going into business with those guys."

"Yelling at refs will be out of character for me. So I'm not going to create any bad habits now that I'm retired. ... I asked Earl for one thing: Two tickets for homecoming. I plan on coming back for the homecoming game. But I'm going to step back and watch Coach Washington and his guys do their thing and I'm going fishing." – on his plans to watch or attend games.

"I'm going to cabbage, lettuce, greens. I'm getting off the meat. I'm going to lose about 20 to 30 pounds, get back in shape and get my big sexy on again." – on whether he'll 'make chicken,' his program's mantra, in retirement.

"When we first came, one of the things is I said I wanted to be closer to my family. We left a championship football team at Grambling to come to A&T, which was in the dumps at that time. We were leaving practice one day and I was complaining, and (assistant coach Shawn) Gibbs says, 'So you want to be close to home, huh? You want to be close to home, huh?'"

"Let me give you one piece of advice, Coach Wash. The people talk about how much they love you and all this. We won the championship one year at Florida. It was about our third in a row. We were having an after-party, and the AD said to one of the coaches, 'I really like this coaching staff.' And the coach says to the AD, 'Would you like us as much if we didn't win as much?' He says, 'Yeah, and I'd miss you too!'"

(Broadway's cell phone goes off for a second time, interrupting AD Earl Hilton).

"This is what happens at every press conference," Hilton says with a smile.

"No it's not," Broadway fires back.

"When it comes to these things," Broadway says, looking down at his phone, "I know there's an off button some place. That's why we've got Coach (Courtney) Coard; he can show me all these things. ... I'm sorry guys, I'm sorry."

Moments later, the cell sounds for a third time, and Broadway tosses it off the dais to a friend.

"He said he's only a phone call away. I made sure. I got his wife's phone number, I got his son's phone number – and I got his grandson's phone number. I'm going to make sure he doesn't get away from me."

"We're going to continue to do chicken. Chicken is it. Our formula has been stop the run. Offensively, protect the football. And win the kicking game. That formula will remain."
