Northern Guilford senior right-hander Josh Pike: “Our philosophy is just to throw strikes. With us four there’s not many hitters out there who are going to be able to challenge us, so we’re just going to challenge everybody else and make them prove they can hit us. Then we’ll throw in the other stuff to work around that, if necessary.”

Senior right-hander Joe Milwee, whose family moved to Guilford County from Southern California before his junior year of high school: “It was a brotherhood I was coming into. These guys have known each other forever. They were able to bring me into what they had, what was so special. They accepted me pretty easily and I adapted pretty well. We jell like no other team.”

Senior right-hander John Clark Ouzts "probably has the best pitch out of the whole staff with that 12-to-6 deuce,” coach Landon Kimrey said of Ouzts’ curveball. "When he's controlling that thing it's hard to hit. What makes him so dangerous is he feels good about throwing it in any count. Josh and Cam have three pitches that they can command at all times, and they're right around 90 (mph)."

Northern Guilford senior pitcher Josh Pike: “We’ve been a pitching school — pitching and defense. This year we have the offense to go along with it. Last year we hit around .225 as a team and this year we’re around .325. If we can keep that up, even just around .300, there’s no way anyone we play is going to beat us.”

You do something bad and you can kind of laugh it off. You’re relaxed, so it’s just like playing catch since we were little.”
