The Adamsleigh Estate, built in 1930, sits near Sedgefield Country Club and is valued at $4 million. The 13-acre estate is the highest-priced home for sale in Guilford County. It’s been on the market for 10 years, occupied only by a caretaker.

Workers in 1929 and ’30 constructed Adamsleigh for John H. Adams, co-founder of hosiery maker Adams-Millis Corp. in High Point, which is now part of Sara Lee Corp.

The size alone makes Adamsleigh Estate impressive: 33 rooms (including 11 bedrooms, 11 full bathrooms, five half-baths) on four stories, two pools, a six-stall stable, a stone gazebo and a five-car garage.

Estate details

It’s the most expensive home for sale in Guilford County right now and it’s front and center just in time for the golf tournament. Sort of. For $4 million, you can have Adamsleigh, a secluded estate tucked in the woods of Sedgefield. The 15,000-square-foot manor has 11 bedrooms and bathrooms, plus another five half-baths. There’s also a tennis court, a caretakers’ home, a pond and two swimming pools. The front of the 84-year-old home faces Sedgefield Country Club’s 12th hole. The back looks out over holes 14 and 15. It’s empty right now — all the better to imagine your stuff inside.

Tickets for specific days are $30, tickets that are good any day are $40, and a ticket book for the week is $120. Fans can buy two good-any-day tickets at Harris Teeter locations, with a VIC card, for $40.
